Corporate Design Work

As an interdisciplinary visual storyteller with 10+ years within the brand consulting, innovation, & brand research space I work , collaboratively alongside Brand Strategists to bring high-level ideas to life from concept to production.

I act as a 3-in-one (art director, designer, studio producer) design generalist and thrive off of projects that demand ingenuity and cross-media making and seek  challenges to distill deep insights into playful experiences.

Founder Brands, Small Agencies & Pro-Bono work

Aside from my 9-5 working in the corporate design space I also support the development of founder brands, agencies, and entrepreneurs. In addition to this work: Once or twice a year I also offer my pro-bono design support to organizations or individuals who are working to make the world a better place.

In the past I have branded and lauched a Global Feminist Community developed branded media assets for a Disability Advocacy Doctor & Educator,  supplied design support for Migrant farmworker advocates, developed Logo, Copywriting and a L&F for a Gear Redistribution Network that lowers the barriers to rock climbing. I also worked with Ian Peirpoint to develop the visual brand, report template, and microsite of the film-forward insight agency Further & Further.

Currently, I am working with a NC Triangle-based entrepreneur to develop the desgn of a podcast & micro-site around the science behind Tighly Curled Hair.

In summary things I enjoy designing include...

CREATIVE PACKAGES
I bottle up the mood and magic of your brand, project, or conference and then sprinkle it across assets. Usually involves L&F and assets pack development. Brief is often undefined and production can be negotiated on-the-fly. This includes branding workshops and/or the ecosystem of designed output that go with it. It can also be tailored to fit your specific platform, launch, or media output.

DESIGNED TAKEAWAYS
When teams want to extend the shelf life of the project, engage folks in the here-and-now, or make them give a damn often bespoke designed takeaways are a killer route. Often involves a singular output, sometimes includes illustration. Think whitepapers, polished brand book, branded stim box, or persona illustrated cardsets. Can involve printed ephemera- depends on the budget & distribution needs.

BRAND DEVELOPMENT
I enjoy telling stories for funky founder brands, purposeful activists and even (somtimes) focused Fortune 500’s. These are project’s I take on because it’s something I believe in. They typically start with a couple of conversations where we collaboratively draft a design scope based on your goals, needs, and industry precedent. It can be as little as one branded asset (like a logomark) all the way to “everything”.

TRENDS, CULTURE & SEMIOTICS
In addition to the above, there is a special place in my heart working with trends, culture, or semiotics work. If you have a commercial project or non-commercial (journalistic) endeavor that falls into this category that you think might be a good fit for either freelance or a worth-while pro-bono partnership let me know. I am eager to work with smart people to shape this type of culture analysis work. Specifically I have deep interest in themes around online dating culture, shifting visual codes, slow/minimal tech or digital detox, food culture, gender roles, attention span, filter bubbles, cognitive bias, the global majority, consumerism, or anything outerspace related- to name a few.

Or this Whitepaper entitled “Virtuous Consumption” I designed a while I was working at Sylvain
